Besan chilla recipe

Besan chilla recipe is a popular Indian savory pancake made primarily with chikpea flour(besan).

Ingredients
  

  • 1 1/2 cup Besan( gram flour)
  • 1/2 tbsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp chilli powder
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1/2 tbsp hing / asafoetida
  • 1 tbsp ajwain
  • 1 tbsp kasuri methi
  • 1 onion
  • 1 inch ginger
  • 1 green chilli
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 capsicum
  • 1 tomato
  • little coriander leaves
  • 1 cup water
  • 5 tbsp oil

Instructions
 

  • Take besan /gramflour in a large bowl
  • Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder,salt, hing/ asafoetida, ajwain/ carom seeds and kasuri methi.
  • Next add , finely chopped onions, ginger, green chillies, grated carrot, finely chopped capsicum, tomatoes, coriander leaves and mix well.
  • Pour 1/2 cup of water and mix well.
  • Pour another half cup and mix again.
  • Check for seasoning and add anything if required.
  • Heat a pan and pour a ladle of batter on it.
  • Spread it gently and add some oil to the edges.
  • Cook the chilla on medium low flame.
  • Once it done on one side, flip it to the other sideand cook evenly.
  • After the chilla is golden brown in color on both sides,remove it from the pan.
  • Healthy and yummy besan ka chilla is ready to be served hot with mint chutney and tomato chutney by the side.
