Coriander seeds – 1 tsp
Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
Fenugreek seeds – 1/4 tsp
short red chilli – 4.
Long red chilli – 4.
Asafoetida – 1/4 tsp.
Methods to make basale soppu recipe are :
First soak one cup of horse gram in water for 4-5 hours.
Then drain the water and cover the beans in a container.
Seedlings will come after 5-6 hours.
Now in a cooker, malbar spinach, sprouted horsegram, add water, add required amount o salt and add hing and mix well and keep it on the stove. Keep the flame in medium.
After 5 whistles, turn off the stove and let it cool down.
Now place a pan on the stove.
After the pan is hot, add oil, add coriander, cumin, chilli and fry it.
Turn of the stove and put ajwain and fry it.
After this mixture put it in a mixing jar and grind it smooth by adding coconut, tamarind and turmeric.
Put the cooked malbar spinach and horsegram in another pot. Also add the ground mixture to it.
Now add required amount of water and boil well.
Add salt if needed.
Cook on medium flame for 3 to 4 minutes.
Now add 2 spoons of oil in a small pan, after the oil is hot add 6 garlic cloves and fry. When the garlic turns red add hing and turnoff the stove.
Add this tadka to coocked malbar spinach curry. And close the lid.
